Indirect Assistance

Children for Life (CFL) provides Conditional and Unconditional Cash Transfers to qualified families in support of children. Unconditional cash transfer are provided to affected families only during an emergency/humanitarian response situation. CFL is using Conditional Cash Transfer as the main medium of assistance given that Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia has been successful and recognised as an effective tool to improve poverty and reduce inequity. Countries in introduced Conditional Cash Transfer (CCTs) as an important part of their poverty reduction and redistribution strategies. This applies to the Health, Nutrition, Education and Hygiene status of poor families (mostly children and women) in which cash is given to poor households under the condition that they send their children to school, visit health clinics and eat nutritious foods and avail/practice safe hygienic practices. These programs have been hailed as being among the most significant innovations in promoting social development, particularly by incentivizing poor families to invest in their children’s future and well-being.
